How do I book a paddleboard lesson or hire?

Simply choose your session, pick a date and time, and book online through our booking page.

Do I need to book in advance?

We recommend booking in advance, especially during weekends and summer holidays, as sessions can get busy.

Can I just turn up?

If we have availability you are welcome to book on the day, but pre-booking is the best way to guarantee your place.

How much does paddleboard hire cost?

Prices vary depending on the session and hire length. Visit our booking page to see the latest prices.

What Should I Wear?

What should I wear for paddleboarding?

Wear comfortable clothes you do not mind getting wet, such as sportswear, shorts or swimwear. Bring a towel and a change of clothes.

Do I need wetsuits?

In warmer weather most people do not need a wetsuit. In cooler weather we recommend bringing one.

What footwear should I wear?

Bare feet are usually best, but old trainers or wetsuit shoes are also fine.

Beginners

I have never paddleboarded before – is that OK?

Yes. Our beginner lessons are designed for complete beginners and the river is calm and sheltered.

Will I fall in?

You might, but most people are surprised how quickly they pick it up. Our instructors will help you feel confident.

Is paddleboarding safe?

Yes. We provide a full safety briefing, buoyancy aids and instruction before you go on the water.

Children & Families

Can children go paddleboarding?

Yes. Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

What age do children need to be?

We recommend children are at least 8 years old for paddleboarding, although younger children can often join on a board with an adult.

Is it suitable for families?

Yes. The SUP School is perfect for families looking for a fun day out in Christchurch.

Weather

What happens if the weather is bad?

If conditions are unsafe due to weather, we will contact you and rearrange your booking.

Can I still paddle if it is raining?

Light rain is usually fine, but strong wind or poor conditions may mean we reschedule.

Location & Parking

Where are you located?

The SUP School is based at Little Avon Marina, Stony Lane South, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 1HW.

Is there parking?

Yes. There is a pay and display parking area directly outside our gates.

Do you have toilets?

Yes, we have toilets on site.

Hire & Equipment

What is included with paddleboard or kayak hire?

Hire includes the board or kayak, paddle, buoyancy aid and safety briefing.

Do you offer kayak hire?

Yes. We offer both single and double kayak hire as well as paddleboards.

Can I bring my own paddleboard?

Yes. If you have your own board you can still book a lesson or guided session.

Group Bookings

Do you do hen dos, birthdays and group sessions?

Yes. We offer private group bookings for hen dos, birthdays, schools, clubs and work groups.

How many people can you take?

We can cater for small and large groups. Please contact us for group bookings.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, we are dog friendly and dogs are welcome on site.

We would prefer dogs not to go out on the paddleboards unless they are very used to being on the water.

Shop & Facilities

Do you have a shop?

Yes. We have an on-site shop selling paddleboards, kayaks, paddles, clothing and accessories.

Can I launch my own paddleboard or kayak from your site?

Yes. You are welcome to launch your own paddleboard or kayak from our site for £5 PER CRAFT

Yes. We have coffee, ice cream, cold drinks and snacks available on site.
